Bio

After graduating, Andreas Terlaak (1976) combined his passion for music and his talents in photography to a specialisation, a profession and an unexplainable addiction; concertphotography.

He has an artistic approach and the strength to create a moment with the circumstances given, rather then just capturing what is happening in front of him. He freezes the artists emotions and unguarded moments, makes surprising compositions and use of stagelight.

Viewing his work gives you a sense of intimacy; the feeling as if you are right there on the edge of the stage. Just you and the artist.

Highlights in Terlaak's career so far were his collaboration with Neil Diamond as his tourphotographer between 2008 and 2018 and working with Prince during a few shows in the Amsterdam Paradiso.

Besides his specialism of live music photography, Terlaak combines a touch of charm and a creative eye in his portraits. Later on in his career he broadend his portfolio with dance and Formula 1 photography.

Much of Terlaak's work is published by Dutch daily newspaper NRC and concertpromoter Mojo Concerts.

Terlaak won the 1st prize in the Zilveren Camera 2007 with his Amy Winehouse photo and in 2022 with a photo of Conny Janssen Danst dance company. In 2013 (Lee Towers series), 2018 (Conny Janssen Danst singles) and 2022 (Conny Janssen Danst series) he was awarded a 2nd prize in the Zilveren Camera.

He was nominated for the Pop Media Award in 2014 and longlisted for the Dutch National Portrait Gallery 2019.
